Glitterful Halloween Nails

Happy Halloween Eve everyone!!  In the spirit of this fun, pumpkin filled holiday, I wanted to change up my nails a bit.  As much as I loved my Color Block Nail Art, it wasn’t festive enough for me and had to go.  I wanted something that captures the spirit of Halloween without being too complicated, so my mind immediately jumped to my little bottle of Essie Over the Top.  However, a pretty black, which can often be found on my nails throughout the fall and winter months, just wasn’t going to cut it.  So I poked around my nail collection for a bit, and found my Orchid Met Him In Prism glitter polish.  And so these glitterful Halloween nails were born.

For starters, you’ll need the following to achieve the look:
– Nailtiques (base coat)
– Essie Over the Top (or any black polish you have on hand)
– Orchid Met Him in Prism (can be bought at H-E-B if you live in TX, or a similar version here)
– Seche Vite (top coat)

Step 1 : Apply Nailtiques, or your preferred base coat, to clean nails.  **Always wash your hands after using nail polish remover, before more polish is applied.**

Step 2 : Apply 2-3 coats of Essie Over the Top once your base coat has dried completely.  You can stick with 2 coats, especially since you’re adding a glitter coat on top, but I’m a creature of habit and applied 3.

Step 3 :Apply 1 coat of Orchid Met Him In Prism.  I love this glitter because it’s very fine and not at all chunky when applied.  I also thought that the bluish-green, holographic quality would be perfect for this Halloween look.

Step 4: Apply 1 thick coat of Seche Vite to set your polish, and allow to dry.

Here’s a close up of the final result!!  Not my most creative work, I must admit, but fun none-the-less.  I kind of love (and am slightly creeped out by) the fact that when the light catches the holographic glitter particles, it looks like a magnified view of a spider’s eye.  ::shudder:: Now I am extremely creeped out thinking that I have ten giant spider eyes at the ends of my fingers.  But when it comes to Halloween, I guess that’s the point, right?

Also, before any of you get worried that I have jaundice, I don’t.  I’m perfectly healthy, and holding my nails under a lamp with a gold-colored lampshade.  And I apologize for the monsterousness of my first picture.  The last time I watermarked vertical pictures, it automatically flipped them horizontally, so this time I (mostly) prepared, and naturally…it watermarked the original image just fine.  Typical. Won’t happen again!

Happy Halloween, y’all!!  Have fun and stay safe please!! Take lots of pictures and let me know what costume you chose!

XOXO
