My Skin Care Routine

Since I’ve been reviewing a lot of Korean skin care products lately, I wanted to do a skin care routine video to show you how I use them all.  Ever since I received these Idunn products to test out a few months ago, this has been my regimen for keeping my skin clean and healthy.  If you’re interested in a particular item once you’ve watched my skin care routine, I’ll have the full reviews linked below.  Hope you enjoy! :)

A skincare routine is something that you have to play around with and find out what works best for you and your skin type.  I have really dry, sensitive skin, so the most important thing for me is making sure that I have products that nourish and hydrate.  During high school and college I had a few breakouts here or there, so I would buy acne-fighting cleansers, which would in turn dry out my skin, which would lead to more breakouts.  It wasn’t until a few years ago when my mom had to practically smack me over the head to make me realize that I don’t actually have acne and the harsh acne-fighting chemicals were the reason my sensitive skin kept breaking out!!  I started only using calming cleansers and moisturizers, and low and behold, my skin cleared right up.  So my point is that what works for me, may not work for you.  If you’re in need of a new, better, or updated skincare routine, take this and adapt it to fit your skin’s needs.

Most of the Idunn products that I featured are designed for all skin types, but the hydro cream I used is made for dry skin.  To shop for a hydro cream to fit your skin type, take a look around the My Dear Skin shop on Amazon.

As you saw, my routine consists of a few key items that should be in everyone’s skin care regimen.
A makeup remover/cleansing oil:  Often cleansers don’t completely remove all of the makeup that we put on our faces.  Find a remover that works for your skin type and use this before you wash your face each night, so that your cleanser can be fully effective.
A cleanser: Most importantly, find one that meets the needs of you skin.  If you suffer from acne, get one with acne fighting properties.  If you have normal or combination skin, get a deep cleansing face wash.  If you’ve got skin like mine, go for a calming face wash that is made for sensitive skin.  – An exfoliating scrub: A few times a week, exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells that can build up on your face and clog pores.
A mask: Like a cleanser, your mask should depend on your skin type.  You may need a deep cleaning clay mask to fight breakouts and blackheads.  I love this Idunn mask because it brightens and nourishes my skin without drying it out.
A moisturizer with SPF: Protecting your skin from the sun is SO important!!  Not only can it cause skin cancer, but also premature aging, and nobody wants that.  It’s also important to keep your skin hydrated.  Even the oiliest skin needs a daily dose of moisture to keep from drying out and then becoming even more oily.
A nighttime cream: Your body and skin does a lot of healing at night while you sleep.  Why don’t you help it along with a good, hydrating, rejuvenating cream?  Allowing your skin to dry out also speeds up aging, so take a few extra seconds to lather up your face before bed.

I hope you’ve found this post to be helpful!  Do you have any favorite skin care products?  Leave them in the comments below!
