Let my first start by saying that I know moms can be young too!! Most of my friends are moms, so I’m certainly not assuming that you have to be 30+ to be a mamabear. I just had a bit of a tough time coming up with a name for this particular tutorial, and since my mom helped me out quite a bit with this one, I thought this title was tastefully appropriate. And obviously you don’t have to be a mom or over 30 to appreciate this look! I wore this all day while I was out running errands, and no one stopped to ask me if I was an aging mother. Enjoy!

As we age, our beauty needs change and what worked for us when we were younger, may not work for us anymore. Most of us in my generation take for granted the availability of tools like YouTube that allow us to research how to do just about anything with a couple clicks of the keyboard. This includes all things beauty. Our moms only had their moms or sisters or friends to learn from, yet we have an entire beauty community teaching us their favorite tips and tricks and reviewing the products that work best for them. My mom has taught me so much about makeup, fashion, and beauty, but when I started my channel, I also realized that there were quite a few things that I could teach her! New products like primers and bb creams have become all the rage, and can really improve the beauty routines of women with mature or aging skin. After a long discussion with my own mom, I’ve created a tutorial to share some of my favorite makeup tips and products that would work really well for not only those my age, but those her age as well!
In order to look and feel our best, it’s important that we know our beauty needs. As we age and those pesky fine lines and wrinkles start to pop up, it is essential to adapt our makeup so that we are not accidentally highlighting what we would rather be hiding. Instead of packing on a heavy liquid or powder foundation, opt for a bb cream that will even out your skin tone, provide SPF, and generally have other skin-nurturing properties. If you need a little more coverage than a bb cream can give, try a mineral foundation like Bare Minerals. Another important tip to remember is to use matte eyeshadows. Unfortunately a lot of eyeshadows out there contain some shimmer, but that can really highlight any fine lines that may live on your eyelids. This Too Faced Matte Eye palette is perfect because you can create both daytime and nighttime looks with it. I know most women use browns on a daily basis to keep things neutral, and of course this palette would be excellent for that, but sometimes an outfit calls for more cool toned makeup. That’s why I wanted to show you a look that incorporates pinks and grays, but is still very natural and daytime appropriate. Obviously, you can switch up this look by using the brown shades in the palette rather than the ones I’ve used here.
I hope y’all have found this tutorial to be helpful! If you feel like you’re one of those women who has been applying makeup all her life without really knowing how, check out my channel where I’ve got other basics tutorials, and of course feel free to contact me with any questions. Most importantly, remember that your age is a gift from God, so instead of sighing over every wrinkle, smile and thank Him for all of the precious time that it took to create them. And then make sure your makeup routine highlights your beauty rather than your age!
This tutorial was created as a collaboration with a dear friend of mine, Gari Meacham. Gari is the founder of Truly Fed Ministries and author of both Truly Fed and Spirit Hunger, which I mentioned in my May Favorites. She and I met last year when her husband Bobby was coaching for the Astros, and we became friends in the bible study she led for the wives. For those of you who haven’t read this post, Kyle suffered from a shoulder infection last season and we spent many, many nights in the hospital. It was incredibly tough dealing with a sick and injured husband in a city where we knew virtually no one. Gari and the other wives and their prayers carried me through, and helped me to keep my eyes trained on God and His plan for us.
Gari is such an amazing teacher, and I am so blessed to have met her and learned from her in our short time together. She has a phenomenal blog, and her books are incredible. I’ve listed all of her links below, so go check her out!
Best & Blessings,
